This year’s Seoul Lantern Festival will be held at Gwanghwamun Square from December 19-31 for 13 days. To commemorate the reopening of the square, the festival will be held in different themes in four sections of the square from the Statue of Admiral Yi Sun-Shin and King Sejong Statue to Sejongno Park and the grass area in front of Gwanghwamun Gate. The walls of Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, National Museum of Korean Contemporary History and KT Gwanghwamun Building will be fixed with LED lights to show a media façade. On New Year’s Eve, New Year Countdown Event will be held at the square.

Main events include beautiful light fixtures and media façade, Christmas photo zone including 12 meter-high Christmas tree and a large snowball 2 meters in diameter, and Gwanghwamun Market selling Christmas goods, handmade goods and delicious food.
